Can you all believe it’s over? After months of preparations and excitement, finally, we have the winner for the Eurovision Song Contest 2019. The Netherlands’ Duncan Laurence was crowned as the winner in Tel Aviv, Israel, with his powerful ballad “Arcade” getting a total of 492 points.

Duncan, a small-town boy in a big arcade, was the bookies favourite, and appeared on the top of several charts, as well as coming third in CelebMix’s own top 10. No matter what, the Netherlands knows how to win Eurovision, as they have already taken home the crown for the fifth time now. They must be so happy, as it has been over forty years since their last win in 1975 – where Teach-In was crowned with “Ding-a-Dong”. The closest they have come to winning since was in 2014 when The Common Linnets finished in second place with their song “Calm After The Storm”.

This year has been extremely competitive, thus, the points system was beyond exciting as we could watch how the countries constantly changed positions. The jury voting was really close, with Sweden‘s John Lundvik coming on the top, followed by North Macedonia‘s Tamara Todevska and the Netherlands‘ Duncan Laurence, but it was the public vote that changed the entire leaderboard, as always.

The jury’s favourite, Sweden’s John Lundvik didn’t do so well with the votes from the public and came sixth overall. Norway‘s KeiiNO received the most votes from the public, flying them to the fifth from the fifteenth place of the leaderboard, however, it wasn’t enough for winning the show. The Netherlands’ Duncan Laurence, as stated above, faired pretty well in the jury vote, so he could easily fly to the top of the leaderboard with 261 points from the public. Not so hard winning this game, right?

On the final board, Italy‘s Mahmood came second with “Soldi”, Russia‘s Sergey Lazarev came third with “Scream”, Switzerland‘s Luca Hänni came fourth with “She Got Me”, and Norway’s KeiiNO came fifth with “Spirit In The Sky”.

During the phenomenal show, we saw a number of interval acts on the stage as well, including Conchita Wurst, Mans Zelmerlow, Eleni Foureira, Verka Serduchka, Gali Atari and Madonna, whose single “Future” debuted on the big stage.

At the end of the show, Duncan took to the stage again to sing the Eurovision Song Contest 2019 winning song “Arcade”, struggling with his feelings and obviously, being overly emotional. He said, the trophy is “to dreaming big and music being always first”.

The story of Eurovision Song Contest has come to an end this year, and we are extremely glad and proud to see five of our favourite contestants, including the winner, within the top ten of the show.
